This course will develop the digital literacy skills necessary to plan, manage, and instruct students using digital instructional tools. Students will explore laws related to classroom technology use as well as classroom management strategies that help teachers maintain an engaging classroom. Finally, students will use technology tools to develop an authentic, standards-based learning experience that utilizes age-appropriate technology.
Students will study an examination of human development across the lifespan with emphasis upon research, theoretical
perspectives, and common physical, cognitive, emotional and social developmental milestones. The course covers material that
is generally taught in a postsecondary, one-semester introductory course in developmental psychology or human development.

This program provides internship experience for students considering a career in education. Students may be placed in classrooms grades Pre-K through grade 12. Internships will take place at schools within the MISD district and will be assigned
based on the student's interest and career goals. Since students will be functioning directly in a teaching environment, it is imperative to exhibit a high academic standard and professional behavior. Students must provide their own transportation and
proof of insurance. Students will meet at Ben Barber at least once a week. Possible Certifications: +Educational Aide I*

Practicum in Education and Training is a field-based internship that provides students background knowledge of child and adolescent development principles as well as principles of effective teaching and training practices. Students in the course work
under the joint direction and supervision of both a teacher with knowledge of early childhood education and exemplary educators in direct instructional roles with elementary, middle school, and high school-aged students. Students learn to plan and
direct individualized instruction and group activities, prepare instructional materials, assist with record keeping, make physical arrangements and complete other responsibilities of classroom teachers, trainers, paraprofessionals or other educational
personnel. Students must provide their own transportation and proof of insurance. Students will meet at Ben Barber at least once a week.
Students will use self-knowledge and educational and career information to analyze various careers within the education and
training career cluster. Students will also gain an understanding of the basic knowledge and skills essential to careers within the
education and training career cluster. Students will develop a graduation plan that leads to a specific career choice in the
student's interest area.
