Description: This course is designed to familiarize the student with the basic understanding of career opportunities and training requirements in the automotive services field. This provides the skills and knowledge required for employment in the automotive field. This is the first class of the ASE/NATEF Automotive Training Program. Competencies are set per NATEF Task List. Application of the knowledge and skills will be provided through hands-on experiences in the classroom and laboratory.

Description: This course is a continuation of the ASE/NATEF curriculum and standards designed to prepare the student for an entry level position in the automotive technology field. The areas of instruction pertain to the Maintenance and Light Repair Certification of the NATEF Task List. This course represents an industry that is considered a hazardous environment because of the potential risk associated with heavy equipment and machinery, power tools, electrical hazards, fire risk, combustible gasses, flashing UV light, extremely loud noises, etc. Students are expected to be able to work in these conditions without constant direct supervision. This class is primarily a hands-on/works based course that will require all students to be working/standing for long periods of time while actively participating each and every day. Possible Certifications: ASE Auto Maintenance & Light Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Brakes, Electronic/Electrical Systems, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, Heating and Air Conditioning, Manual Drive Train and Axles, Service Technology, and Suspension/Steering.
Description: This course prepares the student for an entry level position in the automotive technology field. The area of instruction includes advanced components of the Maintenance and Light Repair Certification of the NATEF Task List. Placement in an internship may occur during the summer between a students’ junior and senior year in a dealership or independent shop. Students must have all required safety wear as listed in the prerequisite class. This course represents an industry that is considered a hazardous environment because of the potential risk associated with heavy equipment and machinery, power tools, electrical hazards, fire risk, combustible gasses, flashing UV light, extremely loud noises, etc. Students are expected to be able to work in these conditions without constant direct supervision. This class is the second part of 4 classes of the ASE/NATEF Certified Automotive Training Program. Competencies are set per the NATEF Task List. Application of the knowledge and skills will be provided through hands-on experiences in the classroom and laboratory. This course represents an industry that is considered a hazardous environment because of the potential risk associated with heavy equipment and machinery, power tools, electrical hazards, fire risk, combustible gasses, flashing UV light, extremely loud noises, etc. Students are expected to be able to work in these conditions without constant direct supervision. This class is primarily a hands-on/works based course that will require all students to be working/standing for long periods of time while actively participating each and every day.
Description: This practicum course is an unpaid internship for students participating in the Automotive Technology courses. A student must have an Automotive Technology related job no later than the 2nd week after the start of class to receive credit. Students must adhere to all workplace rules and regulations and have a positive report from employers. Students will be expected to provide their own transportation to and from the internship sites.
